Nicole L Marcelino, BSN, RN

Nicole Marcelino is a DAISY Nurse in more ways than one. Prior to working at the SFVA ED, she was a program coordinator with Toolworks SF, which is a non-profit agency that serves persons with developmental disabilities. She has also performed extensive volunteer work with organizations like SF Food Bank, Bayanihan Center, Project Open Hand, among many other foundations. The veterans who nominated Nicole noted her patience, kindness, attentiveness, and ability to keep stressful situations calm. One veteran recalled the emotional moment when he had arrived in the ED for treatment and how Nicole immediately made him feel at ease, giving him knowledgeable answers and professional courtesy. Even family members noticed her warmth, acknowledging how she treated the patient and the family as if they were her own. The family expressed that nurses like her "are vital to the health care system."
