Nicole took the time to have crucial conversations with a patient and the family regarding the patient's wish not to be intubated if further supportive medical care was needed. Considering the patient's wishes, Nicole helped transition the patient from recovery care to comfort care. She also helped members of the patient's family say their goodbyes before the patient's breathing assistance was removed.
Nicole advocated for the patient and family with the provider about including hospice services. She also ensured the patient was comfortable, the family was supported, and the patient's death was as peaceful as possible.
