From the very start of Nikki's shift, she was exceptional in all she did. Nikki was very compassionate, always one step ahead of all her duties (including organizing my room and belongings) and consulting with doctors and staff to ensure my best interest of care. Nikki is top in her field and any patient should be happy to have her!

Nikki is a compassionate and dedicated nurse. She made my husband feel well cared for and at ease. It's the people that make St. Luke's our hospital of choice. We live on the Illinois side, but the travel time is worth the decision to stay at St. Luke's.

To pinpoint just one specific situation where Nikki went above and beyond in my care is very difficult because all the care I received from her and the ICU staff was above and beyond; however waking up from my coma, Nikki was one of the first nurses who made me feel the most comfortable after being in such a scary situation. Nikki and I developed a deep connection. One specific moment that really stands out to me was when I was taken for an MRI. I was very scared, and Nikki held my hand the entire time to comfort me when my parents couldn't be with me. Even after I left the ICU, if I was having a tough time, my mom would take me down to the ICU to seek Nikki. I've always been interested in becoming a nurse, but it's nurses like Nikki who really show me how amazing and rewarding the nursing profession can be. A few months after discharge I came back to St. Luke's to shadow her. Nikki has continued to go above and beyond in checking on my health and progress and encouraging me in my future career as a nurse. Nikki is a wonderful, caring, and dedicated nurse. I hope one day I will be as passionate a nurse as Nikki.
