Nicole is excellent at making parents feel that they are involved in the care and decision-making for their children.
Our son came to Boston for a stem cell transplant following 3 rounds of chemotherapy in another state. Nicole was our nurse upon admission, and I knew from our first night with her that she was a talented, special nurse. In my opinion, she is the best nurse we had during the day or night shift during the 35+ days we have been here.
Nicole's attention to detail is exceptional. She consistently came to our room before the pump alarm chimed which helped him and I get needed rest. She also promptly generated updated medicine schedules when asked. These helped to keep me informed of my son's treatment. In addition to being mindful of patient rest and keeping parents informed, Nicole is excellent at making parents feel that they are involved in the care and decision-making for their children.
For example, on transplant day, Nicole prepared the blood sample and pump and asked if I wanted to be the one to start the transfusion. I was caught off guard by this but am overjoyed to have been given the opportunity to participate in the process. In short, my son was not expected to live, and this made me feel like I was helping beyond the support and cheerleading I have been providing. I really can't say enough about the excellent care, professionalism, and genuine concern and interest in patients that Nicole exhibits. Thank you, Nicole.
