Nicole Ohlinger did a fantastic job advocating for a patient this past weekend. The patient had presented to the ER after a seizure. It was discovered he was without medication for 4 months because of confusions and misunderstandings about his Medicare and Medicaid insurance. She spent a great deal of time on the phone with the patient's pharmacy and insurance providers to make sure that the patient was able to get his medication filled that same day. Because she put the patient first and not the payment system, c and because of her tenacity and persistence, this patient was able to pick up the medication for a mere 56 cents! I was very thankful for the time and effort that she spent and we are very lucky to have a leader like Nicole working at Myrtue.
