Although she had just met us at the shift change, Nicole quickly made us feel at ease. When she accompanied Dr. Y into our room to check on us, she assisted Dr. Y in diagnosing our current state, and we would need to proceed with an emergency surgery. Nicole immediately jumped into action, helping me prepare for this transition to surgery.

This was not the information we wanted to hear and came as a shock to us. But Nicole made us feel like it was going to be okay. Her calmness and professionalism kept me at ease, and I'm so thankful for that. She explained each step in the process and talked me through each medication and procedure. She stayed with me the entire time and made sure to do her part to honor any wishes she could, given the scenario. 

Nicole was our nurse all day that day and answered my questions and anticipated the questions I didn't know to ask. I felt respected, informed, and educated under her care. Nicole was also very sweet, taking the time to get to know us personally and love on us. We are very thankful Nicole was assigned as our nurse on this day specifically, and we will be forever grateful to have had her by our side as our advocate, educator, and friend during what could have been a scary time.
