February 2016 Honoree
nicole perkins, RN
Nicole Perkins, Emergency Department RN, recently took care of a homeless woman in our ER. The patient had nowhere to go after her visit, so Nicole took her time to call every shelter in Delaware County with no success. She continued calling shelters outside of Delaware County, and finally found a shelter in New Albany, Indiana, that would accept the patient. Nicole arranged transport by a Greyhound Bus that Nicole paid for out of her own pocket, and then even drove the patient to the bus stop. The patient wanted to thank us for everything. She had a housing interview scheduled for the next day and a job interview scheduled in a few days later. She remarked again on how helpful and kind Nicole was to her.
Thank you, Nicole, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
