Nicole Sierra is a compassionate, selfless, and dedicated nursing student who consistently demonstrates a genuine commitment to caring for others. She is always thinking of those around her, whether it is her patients, their family members, her colleagues, or members of her community. Her patients have personally expressed how thankful they are for her care, kindness, and passion.

She stands out through the compassionate, patient-centered care she provides to every patient she encounters. When speaking with patients, Nicole makes sure they are comfortable and understand the care they will receive. She consistently uses therapeutic communication and makes it a priority for each patient to feel heard, cared for, and involved in their plan of care. These qualities are essential to providing the utmost compassionate care, and I believe they are what truly set Nicole apart because they come naturally to her.

Nicole consistently makes a difference both in her community and within the clinical setting. She is always looking for ways to give back and is involved in multiple committees and organizations within her school. Through her involvement in the Nursing Student Association, Student Ambassadorship, and Student Advisory Committee, she represents and advocates for her fellow students. She also gives back at the state level, proudly serving as Vice President of the Nevada Nursing Student Association for the 2025–2026 term.

Through these roles, she has participated in food drives, prepared postpartum care kits, and taken part in walks supporting meaningful causes. She is truly selfless and consistently keeps the best interests of current and future students in mind. She genuinely wants to see others succeed and will do her absolute best to make someone’s life easier in any way she can.

Her compassion and initiative are also evident in the clinical setting. During one clinical experience, Nicole was assigned to one patient but provided exceptional care to multiple patients under her nurse’s care. She checked in with each patient and their family members, asking whether they needed anything, understood their plan of care, and felt comfortable. Throughout the day, she consistently asked her nurse if there was anything she could help with or assist in completing.

Nicole goes above and beyond without needing to be asked and is always happy to do so. Her primary nurse was extremely appreciative of her help and even requested that Nicole be assigned with her again the following week.

Her willingness to go above and beyond in every clinical setting does not go unnoticed. It is seen, appreciated, and is one of the many qualities that makes Nicole stand out in the best possible way.

Thank you, Nicole, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
