We had a young woman with gastric cancer. She received chemo every other week on Sunday. Nicole had been assigned to her several times. The patient was having a reaction to the chemo, needing special pre-meds. Nicole did such a great job that the patient became very comfortable with her, even requesting that she be her nurse for chemo administration. The last dose was scheduled for a Sunday when Nicole was on vacation. Because she wasn't leaving town right away, Nicole changed her vacation/work schedule so she could give the patient her complicated chemo. The patient was very appreciative as was the staff. Nicole is a great nurse and knew the patient needed her to be the one to give her the last dose.
