I was very impressed by Nicole's assertiveness today. She called a rapid response on one of her patients and displayed the values of personal ownership and partnership. She was very direct in addressing the physician team, and made clear her concerns as to why keeping this patient on the 10th floor was not the best/safest thing for the staff or the patient. She cared for this patient before and also was able to share a lot of pertinent information about the patient. She worked in partnership with the doctors to make the best safest decision for the patient, but made sure that her nursing opinion was heard and acknowledged. It can be hard to make your voice heard in a rapid response situation where many physician teams are collaborating.

This action by Nicole made sure that the safest decision/care was provided to this patient and family.
