I was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder and needed to have a shunt placed. When I entered the neurology floor, I was completely terrified of the unknown. When I reached my room, I was instantly welcomed by Nicole Todd. She went right into action to ensure that I felt welcomed and that my immediate worries and concerns were attended to. She asked me about myself, the things I like to do, my family, among other things. She made me feel like I was a part of a community.
On the first day, I had to have a lumbar puncture to insert a drain. The experience was incredibly painful and long. The entire time Nicole looked into my eyes and talked me through it all. She's intuitive and not only that, she's incredibly empathetic. I have never been more grateful to a single person in my entire life. I would not have made it through that pain without her guidance and care. I have PTSD, and Nicole took me very seriously, she acted fast and accordingly. She went above and beyond to call the PREOP nurse to let her know, who then informed the anesthesia doctor.
Nicole helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life. She ensured me that my outcome would be better in the long run. I cannot truly express to you the difference she has made for myself and my family. I now know that I am going to be happier, healthier, and be around a bit longer for my children. There is no possible way to convey in words how lucky you are to employ Nicole Todd. She's nurturing, speedy, knowledgeable, reliable, kind, and honestly the best nurse I've ever had. I am thankful to your organization for employing such an outstanding example and person. I would like her to know that her hard work and kindness truly make this world a better place. And, in fact, they make Swedish a better place.
