Nikki has always been compassionate not only with her patients but with her team of staff members as well. Nikki is a well-rounded individual who has always demonstrated a consistency of excellence: always listening to her patients, educating, and truly taking the time to focus on patient-centered care regardless of how busy her shift may be. Nothing impedes her from providing quality care.

One example that I remember in particular is when we had a patient who had stayed in the hospital for a long time. Under Nikki's care, she conversed with the patient to discover that the patient felt ignored and that he simply was not feeling any better before and after all the complicated interventions during his hospital stay. Upon hearing this, Nikki immediately collaborated with her team of doctors and involved the charge RN as well. Although she had a busy shift, she took the time to walk downstairs and buy a bag of gifts for the patient that was very specific to his interests. The patient was thrilled upon seeing not only that Nikki had gone out of her way to purchase a gift while thinking of him, but also thrilled at the fact that it was the first time that he felt listened to, giving him hope that his health would improve.

Interventions were done upon Nikki's collaboration with the medical team, and Nikki always followed up with the patient while demonstrating her compassionate interpersonal skills. Thanks to Nikki, the patient was discharged shortly days after with the patient verbalizing how much better he had felt. Nikki is well-respected by all her coworkers and contributes greatly to the teamwork; Nikki is a true DAISY Nurse.
