Nicole demonstrated great compassion for a husband and wife who were both admitted to the hospital. The husband was admitted to the ICU, and the wife was admitted to 5T shortly thereafter. The next morning the wife was distraught over the news of her husband's condition which was worsening. Nicole worked with the wife's nurse to have her come down to be with her husband. Nicole helped care for the wife while she also took care of her other patients. A bed was obtained for the wife to remain next to her dying husband more comfortably. She was able to render comfort and presence to him, holding his hand, as he took his last breath. This remarkable effort by Nicole to think outside the box to allow this couple to be together during this difficult time made a big difference to them and their children.
