Coming from a person who has extreme health anxiety and needle phobia, Nicole is the most compassionate nurse I’ve ever had. I came in for my endoscopy procedure today and was so nervous that I was already crying when she called my name in the waiting room. She was so patient and reassuring with me, helping me take things one step at a time and never once making me feel bad for being scared or anxious.
She talked to me about my school life to help keep me distracted and communicated everything she was doing. When it came time to place the IV, I found it a little hard to stick the first time around, and it was stressful for me, so Nicole gave me several minutes to relax before we tried again. The second time, I was so scared I was hyperventilating, so she held my hand while another nurse placed the IV, moved my ice pack to my forehead and chin to help me calm down, and was so remarkably kind and comforting.
She even came to see me after my procedure, even though she wasn’t the nurse assigned to me for that part, just to make sure I was doing okay and everything went well. She is exactly the nurse I hoped I would have for my procedure this morning—someone who would be extraordinarily patient with my overly anxious self.
Nicole has perfect bedside manners, and I am so incredibly grateful to her for helping me get through a procedure I really needed. Without her kindness, I genuinely would have walked out of the hospital without having it done.
