Nicolette Kuras, RN
This nurse is the epitome of an extraordinary nurse. Nikki is a recent new grad nurse, and you would have no idea that she hasn't been in this field for years. As a tech, I see a lot, learn a lot, and get to collaborate with a ton of different nurses, both new and old.
Nikki is the type of nurse I would want to care for my loved ones, which is exactly why I chose to go into healthcare and pursue nursing. I chose to go into nursing because I did not like the treatment my loved ones received on their weakest days, I wanted to be the change. It was nice being able to have that impact as a tech, but it was even more beautiful going into this field knowing there are nurses out there who put their entire heart and soul into their patients. Nikki is one of them.
Nikki ensures even the smallest of things get done, and get done right. Nikki has a knack for creating a comfortable and nurturing environment for her patients. Nikki does the most. Her empathy and her positive energy are contagious. Her energy is calming and welcoming to her patients.
And the care she gives is not performative. Nikki doesn't just do the most when the family is in the room; she doesn't do the little things with an award in mind. Nikki is, to her core, the truest form of a great nurse.
From taking the time out of her busy day to sit bedside and comfort patients, talk to family, or ensure that dental hygiene and hair care are always done. The smallest things have the biggest impact, and she makes sure her patients aren't just a series of "to-do's or diagnoses; rather, each patient is a person, and she ensures they are heard, seen, and made to feel like such.
Nikki is so deserving of the DAISY Award. Her charisma and love for the field, paired with her commitment to excellent care, are unmatched. For a new grad nurse, she blows a ton of veteran nurses out of the water. Her knowledge, her skills, her compassion, her willingness to help and listen, and a laundry list of more things. Nikki is the best, and all of her patients can say the same.
