On behalf of a mother whose baby was in the NICU at Piedmont Fayette for an extended period of time, her friend and the baby’s “aunt” wrote 23 DAISY Award nominations to the nurses who cared for them. Each individualized letter spoke about the gratitude they felt for the care and compassion they received. The team was praised for their dedication, kindness, commitment, and expertise. Having a child in the NICU can be a harrowing experience, but the family felt unwavering support during their stay. The DAISY Team Award is designed to honor collaboration by two or more people, led by a nurse, who identify and meet patient and/or patient family needs by going above and beyond the traditional role of Nursing.
“The quality care we provide throughout the hospital is possible because of teamwork and collaboration,” said Merry Heath, Piedmont Fayette’s Chief Nursing Officer. “Our NICU is a perfect example of what is possible when a team is aligned with the goal of making a positive difference in every life they touch.”
