I work very closely at times with Nigel as a pre-op nurse, but recently I found myself having an unexpected surgery late one evening. Nigel came in to assist the doctor on my case. I was very nervous, and for the hour I was in pre-op holding, Nigel stayed with me and my family telling stories and making jokes and put all of us at ease. He explained what would happen at length and assured me over and over that he would make sure I would be okay.
When they rolled me back to the OR, Nigel was so kind and reassuring. As I was lying on the table and was being put under, Nigel held my hand, and the last thing I remember was him saying. "It's ok M, I'm right here. You're going to be ok."
I was so nervous and Nigel made me feel like I had my big brother in the room and was so comforting. Nigel really went above and beyond to ease my fears and reassure me.
He is an excellent nurse and I feel fortunate to work with such a kind and caring nurse as he is.
