Nurse Cubbage is newer to the field of corrections but has jumped in and already made a huge impact on the lives of the patients we take care of. While Nurse Cubbage provides excellent care to all of the patients she comes in contact with, she thrives in caring for complex and complicated patients. One patient in particular was a patient who was sent to the infirmary with a compound fracture. This patient had a very high security level and, upon arrival to our facility, was not very stable. The patient felt terrible and began declining over the shift. Nurse Cubbage was in constant contact with the provider to ensure she had constant orders to maintain quality care. This nurse did everything she could to take care of this patient to try and avoid another ER visit, but his decline became too great to handle onsite, and Nurse Cubbage advocated for him to go back to the ER. This patient was subsequently hospitalized for over a month for life-threatening conditions before coming back to our facility. I believe it was Nurse Cubbage and her amazing assessment skills and care given that got this patient to the hospital before he became worse.
