Nikki Bartrom, RN, BSN, CPEN
My son fell and had a large cut under his eye, he was scared and hurt. He didn’t know what was going to happen and was worried about the pain and was afraid of the needles. Nikki was very kind and gentle from the moment we met her. She explained everything to him before touching him. She wrapped him in a warm blanket, which helped with his anxiety. She was patient with him and he could trust her. Nikki searched through the TV channels to find something that he liked. He needed sutures very close to his eye and Nikki ensured it was less painful and scary for him. She made sure we were also informed of what was going to happen. Nikki demonstrated compassionate care by keeping her patient and parents at the center of it. She is in the right profession for sure!
