October 2025 Honoree
Nikki Karlinsey, RN
I went into preterm labor at 37 weeks with my son and was admitted. I delivered later that same day. Nurse Eva (aka Nurse Nikki) took such amazing care of us! She went above and beyond to ensure our baby was comfortable.
He was struggling with indigestion; my milk also did not come in due to the baby being early. This was hard on the baby, myself, and my husband. As a new mother, I already felt I was failing because I was unable to breastfeed. Nurse Nikki was very reassuring and encouraged me to keep trying to breastfeed, showing me comfortable feeding positions for both baby and me.
She provided us with information we would not have had without her help, soothing tips for the baby, resources we could seek out for lactation consulting, car seat safety, etc. She was very involved in our sons care, she was there everytime the OB would come in and that made us feel that she truly cared and wasn't just doing her job.
During our three-day stay at the hospital, we were always looking forward to the start of her shift! She goes the extra mile for her patients! She is so kind, so thoughtful, and is the kind of nurse you want taking care of you or your family during their hospital stay.
After being discharged, we definitely miss Nurse Nikki. Due to her being so attentive, we felt more prepared than ever, and I'm happy to say I am successfully producing milk and breastfeeding my son, and her education and encouragement are definitely a big part of that.

Thank you, Nikki, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
