I am honored to write this letter recommending Nikki, an extraordinary nurse on the 4th floor of the ICU, for a special Daisy Award for her exceptional nursing care. My family and I had the privilege of being under Nikki's care during one of the most challenging times of our lives as my critically ill mother fought for her life in the ICU. My mother was suffering from numerous severe health issues, including dangerously elevated carbon dioxide levels in her body. During this time, Nikki exemplified the highest standard of nursing care and compassion. Her knowledge of my mother's complex medical conditions, medications, and the doctor's orders was outstanding. She took the time to explain every procedure and decision to us clearly and patiently, often repeating and rephrasing complex concepts until we understood.
Nikki's care for my mother was unparalleled. She ensured that my mom remained clean, dry, and comfortable despite her struggles with various challenges. In addition to her clinical expertise, Nikki's kindness and compassion extended to our entire family. We are a large and loud group, often overwhelmed with questions and concerns. Her ability to care for both her patient and her patient's family during such a difficult time was truly remarkable.
