We were blessed to have Nikki on the day shift three days in a row and she picked up on his mental struggle immediately. She didn't ignore his change in mood and pulled up a chair right at the foot of his bed to chat with him. She listened, she explained, and she comforted. He needed to release the fear and emotion he had been holding in so he didn't worry his family...and she knew it. She was the only nurse who tended to my uncle's physical and mental needs.

Nikki also treated my family with care, love, and respect. She answered questions, repeated information she may have already given, and never once showed any frustration or irritation. She came in with a smile each day and we knew he was in good hands.

Nikki deserves this award because she showed my uncle and family what it feels like to have an angel on your side when fear threatens to crush your spirit. Not only did she help physically heal my uncle's damaged heart, but she helped heal my family's broken hearts, too. We are forever in her debt.
