I want to nominate Nikki for the DAISY Award for the extraordinary care she provided for my Mama. She came in by ambulance & was not making much sense & being very demanding. From the moment Nikki walked in her room, she showed my Mama so much kindness & grace. She clearly communicated everything that would be happening. It became clear my Mama's issue wasn’t physical. The more demanding & blatant she became, the calmer Nikki’s body language & voice got. At one point my Mama demanded that we all not look at her. Nikki adapted & continued her tasks, while not looking at her. She knew exactly how to handle this situation without it escalating. She made the best experience for both of us. She hugged us on the way out. This kindness & emotional support made a terrible day so much easier. My favorite part is she had a student with her. This student got to learn from one who exhibits the highest standards of professional practice I have ever seen.
