In addition to making sure "patients feel good and comfortable" during their time on the 3 Thompson rehabilitation unit, Nikki always has a big smile for patients and her co-workers. She makes sure to celebrate birthdays and other occasions with patients on the unit and "will give her last dollar for a patient to have a bag of chips from the machine," the nominating letter stated.
Nikki is a leader who champions patient safety with special attention to details, such as checking bed alarms to ensure they are on. And she communicates effectively with patients and their families to ensure they can fully participate in their care.
For her efforts on behalf of patients, and her daily example to deliver care in a manner that demonstrates the mission, vision and values of Jefferson University Hospitals, Nikki has earned this DAISY Award.
