April 2021 Honoree
nikki van thomas, RN
Hi! I'm in the hospital a lot from complications of a liver transplant 6 years ago; small bowel obstructions and stent placements. I had just been in Atlanta for 4 nights for stent checks and went home on Sunday. Then, Tuesday PM I had the pain of bowel obstruction (17th one); into Athens Regional, and after testing and CR scan, surgery wanted an NG tube. I said "No," but luckily Nikki was my nurse for at least 3 days in a row. So calm and reassuring as the tube was put in. After, always in a caring manner. I looked forward to seeing her; she helped me get through a painful and hard time (NPO for 3 days). Thank you so much! So calm and reassuring; brought me so much peace. All the nurses were great, but Nikki stood out!
Thank you, Nikki, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
