He would check in on her and us every chance he got and ensured my aunt was not getting too anxious.
My 68-year-old aunt was inpatient on 10 Ashman for two weeks and was being treated with radiation and chemotherapy. She got so sick and so weak after each treatment that by week's end, she was worn out. Nikolas Suckinos was there. Every time we had a simple question, he would find the time to answer and explain what he could or could not do or what he recommended. This past week, Nick had my aunt as a patient for four days, and she received the best care from him. She was at the point of not responding to anything, and Nick helped us and explained to us what was happening and that we needed to put her in comfort care. He took it upon himself to call the doctor and get the necessary medication to make my aunt comfortable. He would check in on her and us every chance he got and ensured my aunt was not getting too anxious. He always got down to her level and asked her if she was comfortable or in pain and was concerned about my aunt. He stayed in the room with us when the doctor came and explained to the doctor why we wanted comfort care so we wouldn’t have to go through the medical part of explaining. He was truly top-notch and cared sincerely for my aunt and her sickness. We told him that we would like to have him back if she’s still here on Wednesday when he returns to work. He is truly a genuine, all-around good person and an exceptional nurse.
