Her excellent communication, attention to detail, and unwavering dedication made all the difference.
A Truly Extraordinary NICU Nurse — Nilda is an angel on Earth!
Our baby was admitted to the NICU with meconium aspiration, and those first days were some of the hardest of our lives. One of the night nurses we initially encountered left us feeling so uncomfortable and worried that my husband and I began taking turns staying bedside—we genuinely lost trust in our baby’s care.
But everything changed the night Nilda walked in.
From the moment she took over, we saw a level of commitment, compassion, and professionalism that immediately eased our fears. Nilda was proactive in every aspect of our baby’s care. She didn’t just “do her job”—she anticipated needs, explained everything thoroughly, and made sure our baby was progressing safely and steadily.
As two nurses ourselves (just not in this specialty), we know true passion when we see it. And what Nilda has is rare. She took the time to teach us, guide us, and have us return-demonstrate every newborn care skill to ensure we were confident and prepared. Her bedside manner is exceptional—gentle, reassuring, patient, and full of heart. She treated our baby as if he were her own, giving individualized care to meet his fragile needs.
Her excellent communication, attention to detail, and unwavering dedication made all the difference. Truly, because of Nilda’s proactiveness, advocacy, and skilled care, we are bringing our baby home before Thanksgiving—something we prayed for but did not expect.
Nilda is the definition of what every NICU nurse should be: knowledgeable, compassionate, attentive, skilled, committed, and deeply passionate about helping families in their most vulnerable moments. She is an absolute angel, and if there is any nurse who deserves recognition or an award, it is her.
We will forever be grateful to her for taking care of our baby—and for taking care of us, too.
