Nina C Sanchez, RN

We came in a month ago to find out my husband was diagnosed with MS. Nurse Nina comforted us and shared her own story of her diagnosis and how she navigated her own challenges in an effort to both comfort and inform us. She advocated for us to stay in a room that would allow me to spend the night with my husband during such a scary time. It felt like she knew us and cared.

When we came back for a medical emergency due to MS a month later, Nina saw my husband as he was being wheeled to his room and stopped him immediately with genuine concern about what happened. She wasn’t our assigned nurse, but she still came in, hugged us, and sat with us on the first day. I believe her advocacy, though I don’t know for sure, was the reason my husband was transferred to a room that would allow me to spend the night with him again after such a scary incident. She, in sharing her story, provided reassurance and more knowledge on how to take care of ourselves physically, emotionally, spiritually, and interpersonally as we learn to navigate life with my husband having MS. The entire staff at Rush Oak Park, from the ER to the inpatient units, has given my husband the warmest care; we are so grateful to them all. But to Nina, in particular, thank you.
