Her support significantly improved communication between me, the doctors, and the entire treatment team.
I would like to nominate Ms. Dalakishvili for the DAISY Award. When I arrived in Germany, I didn’t speak a word of German—and I still don’t—and I was completely overwhelmed by my serious illness and the entire situation in the hospital. I often felt alone and didn’t know how the healthcare system worked or how to communicate with the medical team.

My medical history began with my initial diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia in Georgia. I then received treatment in France and returned to Georgia afterward.

After arriving in Germany, I was admitted to the hospital again with a suspected recurrence. At first, this situation was very confusing for me and extremely emotionally stressful. During this difficult phase, Ms. Dalakishvili was an extraordinary source of support for me. She helped me understand the medical situation and put it into perspective. This made it clear that it was initially only a suspicion and that further diagnostic testing was necessary.

After a platelet transfusion, I once experienced an allergic reaction. Ms. Dalakishvili happened to be there (she was never my assigned nurse), immediately recognized the situation, and reacted promptly by stopping the transfusion and informing the doctor. This allowed for a quick and appropriate response.

She provided me with intensive support throughout my entire course of treatment, explained medical discussions to me, and helped me understand important information. She also accompanied me during the diagnostic procedures to assess my bone marrow function, made the processes easy to understand, and thereby gave me a sense of security.

Due to previous traumatic experiences, I was very anxious, but her calm and empathetic manner helped me gain confidence and feel safe during the examinations. Her support significantly improved communication between me, the doctors, and the entire treatment team. Without her, I would have been completely lost in this situation, both medically and logistically.

She provided me with structure, guidance, and emotional stability. Even in the midst of her daily work, she repeatedly took a moment to check on me and make me feel that I wasn’t alone. Her calm, respectful, and compassionate manner made a huge difference to me. Furthermore, she has a very positive and compassionate influence on those around her.

My son also got to know her, and their interaction was marked by mutual respect and a very positive atmosphere. Overall, Ms. Dalakishvili helped me immensely during a very difficult time. She gave me a sense of security, eased my fears, and supported me both medically and personally. To me, she is not only an outstanding nurse but also someone who makes an extraordinary difference in the lives of patients. That is why she deserves the DAISY Award.
