Nishel Lawrence, RN

Nishel has gone above and beyond in caring for one of our CPU patients who has been here for over a month. She has spent extra time holding her hand and allowing her to voice how she feels. Nishel has given multiple "pep" talks to the patient when she has been down and giving up. Nishel made a special poster for her which sits on the patient's bedside table and is titled "Looking at the glass half full". This poster lists 7 positive thoughts or events that have happened that the patient can look at to encourage her to not give up. Besides listing the patient's medical progress, one says "If all else fails, give us your beautiful smile." The patient's spouse proudly tells everyone that Nishel made that for his wife. Nishel's gentle approach, positive outlook, and encouragement to this patient played a vital role in this patient's recovery.
