No matter what is going on in the lives of her colleagues Nikki always supports us as though we were her own family members.
When I think of a great leader one that comes to mind is Nikki Thunder. From Hurricane Harvey to COVID and SNOVID, Nikki’s leadership has been unwavering. She is dedicated to the hospital, her IMU team, and her community. When I think of Nikki and her leadership, here are a few leadership characteristics that I feel that she models very well:

1. Fair Attitude-She is fair and consistent in her leadership approach.

2. Self-Motivated-Not only is she a self-starter she works diligently to foster the same for her team members.

3. Care Like Family-No matter what is going on in the lives of her colleagues she always supports us as though we were her own family members.

4. Passionate-She leads with both passion and grit. Nikki has a true love and passion for nursing and supporting her team which is consistently demonstrated in both the good and challenging times.

5. Empathetic & Supportive-She knows her team members beyond just their names. When we go through things she picks up on it quickly and does everything she can to support us.

6. Resilient-Any leader that can survive challenges such as Hurricane Harvey, COVID, SNOVID, and the significant staffing issues we are facing and keep their unit afloat is beyond resilient.

There are very few leaders that I have seen that work as hard as Nikki. She works days, nights, and weekends in staffing to help her team as the need arises.
