NK always took time to find a way to gently care and assure her that her pain could be managed. She went above and beyond to be a comfort, not only to my daughter but to me as well.
NK is special in so many ways. I had two rough days and nights, but as soon as NK stepped into my room I was provided with a sense of peace. She introduced herself and assisted me to the bathroom. She provided me with comfort in lieu of the painful injections she administered to me. She did her best to distract me and we laughed together at whatever sarcastic comment I made. Every time I called for a nurse, NK was there within minutes to meet my needs.
My IV often burned, but she assessed it every time and then assured me that the line was okay. One night, my mom and I couldn't sleep, and she spent time talking with us about her life and stories about her daughter. When we finally fell asleep, we did so comfortably knowing she was checking in on us to be certain all appeared as it should have. Another time, I fell to the ground in pain, and NK literally lowered herself to the ground, sat next to me, and talked me through it before returning me to bed. Her outlook and demeanor left such an impression on me.
Months later, during the height of the pandemic, I returned to the hospital for additional needs and was blessed to have NK once again as my nurse. No visitors were permitted this time, but she helped with that void by sharing a hug and assuring me with her familiar face. I cried. She talked with me when I couldn't sleep but always reassured me in every way possible. I never thought I would end up with a friend from hospitalization, but I certainly did. NK is the most amazing nurse on this planet. She is a perfect example of what a nurse should be. I am blessed that our paths crossed.

NK was a gift from God following a lifesaving surgery my daughter endured. She was there for her, able to settle her down and re-orient her to healing days ahead. NK always took time to find a way to gently care and assure her that her pain could be managed. She went above and beyond to be a comfort, not only to my daughter but to me as well.
My daughter was not only admitted once but months later when I was not permitted to visit. NK was there and her kindness, compassion, and professionalism showed a tremendous source of comfort to both of us. NK is truly an example of an extraordinary nurse. She exemplifies what a nurse should be. Our family will be forever grateful for the love and kindness she gives to her patients and their families. Thanks aren't enough but we are hopeful this recognition is a small part of our gratitude for her exceptional care.
