There once was a young female patient who completed a hypothermic protocol after cardiac arrest and was simultaneously diagnosed with COVID-19. The patient had just been extubated and weaned off sedation. Noelle was in the room by the patient's side throughout the process, holding her hand and ensuring all needs were met. The patient returned to consciousness, was informed of their health status, became increasingly anxious and tearful throughout the shift. Noelle showed patience, light-heartedness, compassion, and worked tirelessly to ensure that this patient felt safe. Noelle brought food that had been requested, talked to the patient about their life to provide distraction and comfort, and even stayed to comfort her even more after the work day drew to a close. This is but one story to share. Noelle exhibits this level of compassion to every person she interacts with...patients and staff. Noelle has been a great role model to those around her. Her skills and devotion are exemplary of what it means to go "above and beyond".
