The time I spent as a patient shaped who I am. In hard moments, I think back to how Noelle made me feel and the care she’s shown me over the years. That’s the type of nurse I strive to be.
Noelle is the picture of kindness and grace itself. As a cancer patient, I’ve interacted with many nurses. None have been as attentive and intentional as Noelle. She takes time to make each patient feel known and seen, making eye contact and connecting with questions about life outside of the hospital. She is attentive and responds to questions quickly, knowledgeably, and with high attention to detail. No matter how many times she’s done a check-in question that day, Noelle stops to take time to answer the questions by making eye contact and ensuring that you feel comfortable. I was in nursing school when I got diagnosed with cancer. I took a pause from school to get my treatment. Now, I’m in remission and a nurse myself. The time I spent as a patient shaped who I am. In hard moments, I think back to how Noelle made me feel and the care she’s shown me over the years. That’s the type of nurse I strive to be. I strongly believe that Noelle is a DAISY Nurse. Although I don’t have a crazy detailed story, I think that people like her, who are making my hardest outpatient doctor appointments bearable, should be recognized. She is consistently a shining star in the difficult world of an outpatient cancer clinic. Thank you for all you do, Noelle! You make an impact with how you live your life every day.
