Nolan cares deeply for each individual and family member he is assigned to. He leads our Prep team with love and compassion. He is our expert in the role of Prep Charge Nurse and has become the IV specialist for our hospital. Nolan's expertise is sought from the IV therapy and Anesthesia departments. He precepts our new residents to the art of IV therapy by sharing his knowledge thus ensuring our patients receive the best care when preparing for their surgery. Nolan is a quiet, yet persistent patient advocate that has served our patients and families and led staff in our department for 18 years. He strives to improve the patient experience and will speak up to ensure our patients and staff are well cared for. Nolan will always be part of the solution and maintains an exemplary standard of care for his patients. He treats everyone with respect and compassion and is well respected by his peers and colleagues. It is not unusual for Nolan to have managed a day where we've had 50-60 patients prepped for surgery and then go help in the PACU area. Patients will say "Nolan, you're still here?" He will smile and they will chat about fishing or their families. It is difficult to give one example because this is what Nolan does each and every day.
