We were partners at clinical and had a non-English speaking patient. Later in the evening during med admin the patient started crying and sobbing uncontrollably. The RN and I were taken aback and not sure how to proceed. The student stepped up and listened to the patient pray and supported them. The student talked to the patient in their language and learned that lately the patient has been having a hard time connecting with providers and has been being moved from hospital to SNF to a different hospital. The student stood by the patient's side while we gave her meds, held her hand, and gave her tissues to cry with. The student went above and beyond help and support this patient.
