That kind of commitment cannot be taught; it comes from the heart.
During the four and a half months that our baby was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, there were many faces and many caring hands. But there is one we will always remember with special gratitude: Norma’s.

Norma was one of our baby’s night-shift nurses. Each morning, before heading to work, I would visit the unit and always found Norma awake, attentive, and standing by the incubator. I never had to look for her; she was there, watching over everything.

Every visit began with a precise and complete update of what had happened during the night. Norma never overlooked a single detail, temperature, signs, behaviors, or the smallest changes. She spoke with clarity, warmth, and the calm confidence of someone who knows exactly what she is doing.

Beyond her professionalism, what truly touched us was the way she cared for our baby with gentleness, dedication, and such constant attention that we knew, even in our absence, our child was in the best hands.

Over time, we learned that there were nights when she chose not to take a dinner break, staying instead by our baby’s side. That kind of commitment cannot be taught; it comes from the heart.

In a time of constant worry, knowing that Norma was with our baby while the rest of the world slept gave us immense peace. She was a steady and loving presence when we needed it most, and she will always be part of our family’s story.
