My son is unlike any of the other typical cases in the NICU. He is a term baby with complex intestinal issues. From the first day that Norma took care of our baby, she showed compassion, great attention, and excellent care for my son. As a mother and most especially as a NICU mom, there’s nothing scarier than seeing your sick child with tubes and lines all around him. Norma's caring, calm, and compassionate attitude helped us to feel at ease during such difficult times.

Aside from being a caring and compassionate nurse, Norma also goes above and beyond to advocate for her patients and to help make her patients comfortable. My son was having a constant leak in his ostomy bag that was already causing him some skin irritation. Norma devised a way to help reduce the incidence of leaks by switching the wafer for his ostomy bag. She also always makes sure that my son will have enough supplies for his ostomy bag before it runs out or helps the nurse that is taking care of my baby with the ostomy change whenever she is a charge nurse. Her dedication, compassion, and caring attitude separate her from her peers.
