I currently work in an endoscopy suite with several elder nurses who are approaching retirement. I think that I would confidently describe all of them as great nurses. Watching their care day in and day out, even after providing nursing care for forty-plus years, they are selfless, patient, safe, and thirsty for education when it comes to their patient’s safety. To explain, we are currently taking on a new role in our department taking care of phase one post-anesthesia patients, something that they have never done. Many of them haven’t cared for “critical” type patients in many years. Regardless, as education is assigned, they put their all into it, taking notes and studying when they aren’t on company time. This is so admirable to me, because at a point in their career where they could call it quits and retire early, instead they buckle down and learn how to safely care for their patients. They extend selflessness by continually staying late at work to care for patients, and they are the definition of teamwork. They are all great nurses, and I am very fortunate to be able to work by their side and hopefully absorb an ounce of the greatness they exude. Not to mention, starting this January, Endoscopy Duluth has been asked to orient new RNs from Endoscopy Lawrenceville because our team does such an amazing job! So proud of what Duluth does as a team to give the best patient care by giving the best education possible to new employees!
Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
