From the moment he was admitted, every staff member who interacted with my dad did so with compassion, empathy, and dignity. My dad regularly commented about how the team’s energy and regular smiles bolstered his spirit even as he knew his life would come to an end while in their care. From our family’s perspective, we couldn’t have asked for more during our dad’s last days. Not only was it comforting for us to see him receive outstanding round-the-clock care during his weakest moment in life, but, thanks to his exceptional care, you also allowed us to have quality time with him. Our strong faith in God and heaven, coupled with the care he received, permitted us to be at peace, and our hearts are filled with joy. The staff allowed him to live his authentic self until his last breath.

With the support of executive leadership, Bernadette provided one of the most memorable moments for my dad by arranging to safely take him outside. The breath of fresh air, the sight and sound of the rain, and the compassionate care he received from Bernadette provided him with a sense of normalcy. This act of kindness meant more to him than you will know, as he recognized he would most likely not leave the hospital and ascend to heaven. Staff like Bernadette, who went the extra mile for my dad, will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts.

While on her own break, Jessica went out of her way to assist my dad in the middle of the night with a restroom break. Her quick action and willingness to step up allowed my dad to use the toilet, preserving his dignity. Her dedication to care, empathy, and professionalism is what makes her a shining star to us.

While we recognize each staff member provides quality care, the care and friendship my dad benefited from exceeded our expectations. We will forever be grateful for the entire HP4 staff and the Palos Hospital organization. May God continue to bless each and every member of the team.

Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
