3B has a remarkable team of nursing staff and techs that have embraced and shown such great compassion for a patient who spent 390 days with us. The patient was an elder abuse patient who had not been cared for appropriately. She was quite the challenge when she first arrived and was out of her home environment, and I'm sure she was frightened. This 3B team embraced her with such compassion and grace. We never thought she would be with us for 390 days, but I will say that she became family. They celebrated every holiday with her, decorated her room to make it feel more like home, and provided her with her favorite snack items. The staff would cover for each other so that her nurse and a tech could take her outside to see the sunshine and get some fresh air. She participated in every party or celebration the floor had for over a year. Not only did they provide great care, but they also showed compassion, demonstrated a caring attitude, and kept her safe in the hospital environment for her entire stay with us. I can't fully capture the extent of this team's work for this individual, and they truly deserve this award.
