OB Unit Team
Kathleen Franks, RN; Jamie Austermiller, RN; Burgundy Bower, RN; Renae Wagner, RN; and Marie Schroeder, RN
This recognizes an exceptional Labor & Delivery and Postpartum team for providing compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the birth experience. From labor through discharge, each caregiver demonstrated kindness, professionalism, and a commitment to meeting both the physical and emotional needs of the patient and family.
I was in labor and experiencing extreme pain. Katy treated me with respect and listened to me, even though she had a full patient assignment and a lot on her plate. She gave me pain management options and helped talk me through my contractions. She worked efficiently to make sure I got my epidural in a timely manner. She stayed with me until I was comfortable. I’ll never forget when she checked my dilation and told me it was baby time. She will always hold a special place in my heart for the care she gave me that day.
Burgundy came in on her day off to take me as a patient while I was in labor. She stayed with me pretty much the whole time to make sure I was comfortable. She gave me words of encouragement when I was scared and guided me through the pushing process of my labor. She made sure I got what I needed post-delivery in a timely manner to keep me safe. I cannot thank her enough for coming in to take me as a patient and make the day my child was born extra special.
Andy was the CRNA on the night I was in labor. He made sure that as soon as he could place my epidural, he was in my room. He made me wait no time and got my epidural placed seamlessly. He made the process go super smooth and fast. He made sure I was pain-free and comfortable before leaving. The epidural worked great and he checked back in after I delivered to congratulate my husband and I. Andy is amazing!
Marie was my postpartum nurse the first night after delivering my son. She was kind, helpful, and made sure I received medication for my pain on time. Marie made my first night postpartum extra special by watching my son for me and my husband for a few hours in the nursery so we could sleep. Not only did she give my baby cuddles, but she also made a very special craft using his footprints for me. She took the time out of her night to make sure I had something special to remember the birth of my son. Marie goes above and beyond for her patients.
Renae was the first postpartum nurse who took care of me the morning following my delivery. She was very kind and understanding of my needs. She took the time to answer my questions and made sure my pain was under control. She gave me the space I needed while my family was visiting but was there right away if I needed anything.
Jamie was my postpartum nurse the day of my discharge from the hospital. She took the time to make sure I was comfortable and that my baby was safe. She started another IV for me with no hesitation when I asked for a new site and made sure I got my Iron infusion as soon as it was available. She made sure my baby and I had what we needed and discharged us in a timely manner.
