Throughout my years of going to the Urgent Care, I have never once seen Odessa without a smile or without compassion for her patients and their families.
Being a mom of 3 kids, sometimes I feel that I am a frequent at the Urgent Care. My kids are always getting sick or hurt, and I am so thankful for the care we always receive there. One nurse in particular, whom I feel is always with my kids, is Odessa. She has helped with IVs, labs, swabs, and support. Most recently, she was helping to care for my 3-year-old son, who was there with severe abdominal pain. I have never heard my son scream and cry like that before, and I was understandably very nervous.
One of the first things that needed to be done was labs and an IV, which took several members to help with because my son was scared and fighting them. While Odessa helped to hold him still, she constantly talked to my son and tried to explain and comfort him with such a calm demeanor. He was certainly not calm, but I felt comfort from her presence as well. Throughout the rest of our day, there she was checking on us frequently, and once we finally got all clear that we were safe to go home (yay!), she was quick to jump up and end his visit on a good note with a little Halloween gift.
Throughout my years of going to the Urgent Care, I have never once seen Odessa without a smile or without compassion for her patients and their families. As a fellow nurse, co-worker, patient, and family member to a patient, there are few people who are always calm and reassuring, no matter what is going on. Odessa has every quality you would hope to have in caring for someone you love, and is a true example of a DAISY Nurse.
