As a 37-year RN at CAMC and having been a patient in the spring of 2014 under the care of Odessa Richards, I want to commend her for the phenomenal care she gives to each and every one of her patients. When she entered my room, she not only acknowledged me as the patient with a smile and a warm hand on my shoulder, she had some reassuring words for my husband who was very anxious about my surgery. Although all of the nurses on 3S, were excellent, there is something very special about Odessa. She is an experienced RN who truly knows how to treat patients and completes a thorough assessment. She was the only RN who removed my SCDs to check for edema and pedal pulses. Since she works nights, she had her trusty flashlight and didn't miss a part of the body for which she is searching for abnormalities - a sign of a great bedside nurse. She has a very pleasant and calming demeanor which is very reassuring. Odessa is an exceptional human being who has personal responsibilities that are never revealed with the patients. She is the 21st century's "Florence", always focused on the best patient care and the human being in that bed. She is my role model.
