Sometimes, usually when we least expect it and need it the most, we meet an individual who has a profound and positive impact on our lives; a person who truly makes the world a better place. Odessi Guinto is one of those very special people. As we read the nomination form for recipients of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses we thought of Odessi.
Odessi has a very caring and compassionate demeanor and she made sure that I was completely comfortable. I also enjoyed how she would encourage me but still remind me that recovery takes time. Her love is shown in every task she does and this is a great quality especially when a patient is in pain and distress. I also think her attitude towards helping her patients is so upbeat it can make you feel better without any medication. She does want your comfort to be the most important thing regardless of medications. Her encouragement was the best of her care.
