ofelia sigarroa, RN

Ofelia is an RN in our acute partial hospitalization program and is faced with people in acute phases of psychiatric illness on a daily basis. There is not one incident I can recall but rather a series of acts of kindness and compassion towards the people she serves. Ofelia displays infinite patience and a willingness to help people through their crisis on a daily basis. Most recently a young lady was having a difficult time in the program and Ofelia took her aside, listened to her concerns and offered a compassionate ear as well as supportive feedback. The patient was able to stay in the program for the rest of the day.
Events like this happen on a daily basis and are too numerous to tell. I would just like to say that everyday Ofelia has a positive impact on the lives of the patients we serve and makes coping with their mental illness a little easier.
