Oga is a fantastic person who exemplifies the kind of compassion and care that is the epitome of what nursing is all about. He is adored by his patients because he treats them as though they are his family. The patients are always given the undivided attention that is necessary to their progression and care. He accomplishes this by his meticulously detailed way of methodically organizing his priorities. Not only does he excel as a nurse for his patients, but he is also widely respected by fellow peers for his willingness to lend a hand. While we may serve under two different units within the hospital, Oga would never hesitate to come and assist our unit in any way that he can.
Oga has superior clinical judgment, knowledge, and clinical skills in the management of his patients. He is an excellent resource and patient advocate. It is evident that Oga takes pride in his commitment to managing his patients and he finds fulfillment in the nursing profession. I have personally witnessed Oga's interaction with a complicated case, and his ability to support the patient and caregiver was admirable. Oga continuously builds a trusting relationship with both his patients and their families while maintaining professional boundaries. He understands patient care needs are a priority and he is always professional, even under stressful circumstances. He is reliable, flexible, and well respected by his peers. It is a pleasure to work with Oga and an honor to recognize him for his excellence and dedication to the nursing field.
In one instance, our ICU had a patient that had a pacemaker that was giving us difficulty to manage due to the complexity of the case. The cardiologist was very specific in what needed to be done, so we had to call for help from CVICU. Oga came to our aid with a smile. He was very thorough and patient with me and gave me a step by step tutorial on how to manage the pacemaker and made sure that I was comfortable with the assignment. He was more than willing to answer my questions and gave me his undivided attention because he wanted to make sure that the patient will receive the best care. He did not rush and was very detailed in everything he explained to assure that I understood. His mannerisms and method of teaching are easy to learn. I regard him highly with the utmost respect for how he carries himself. He is an accurate representation of what a team member should be.
In another instance, I needed assistance with a sheath because the patient developed a hematoma. He came upstairs quickly without delay and guided me patiently through the process. His knowledge on both matters is none other than remarkable, and the best part about it is his sincere humbleness at all times. There is such a gentle sincerity in the way in which he represents himself that is truly something to aspire to be.
In addition to the wonderful job he does working with our patients, Oga is a tremendous educational resource for all of our nurses. He is a role model and also serves as an expert consultant who is always available to our nurses.
Working with Oga is a very positive experience for all of us. He interacts very professionally and respectfully with everyone he meets. Everyone he deals with comes away with an enjoyable and positive experience. Oga is very honest and will do the right thing for the patients. He is an exemplar of the nursing industry in every capacity.
Oga deserves to be recognized for being such an outstanding role model because he not only possesses the great qualities that this award honors, but also because he is the type who would typically be too modest to desire to be acknowledged. His enthusiasm, teamwork, patience, and overall positive attitude make him a true DAISY Nurse. Words alone cannot give him enough credit for all that he stands for and his added value to this workplace.
