I nominated Okechi Ikpeama for the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses through CHRMC for the patients she has helped survive COVID. They say that certain people come into our lives at certain times for certain reasons. During my stay, I was blessed with having Ms. Ikpeama for four consecutive nights as my nurse. Not only was I confident with her clinical expertise and self-confidence, but it was her ability to recognize my individualized needs that were impacting me and beneficial to my recovery. She was my saving grace and motivation. She came in by 5:30 am every morning to do clinicals and pushed me emotionally and physically to fight COVID that was ravishing my body. I have been a nurse for 35 years. I personally realize the impact of a nurse and professional that was so gracious and confident in the work she did. I know I am forever grateful to Ms. Ikepeama, most of all to be a COVID survivor because of the care I received.
