Sure enough, a few minutes later, a car pulled up, and it was her. She got out of her car, gave my husband a hug, told him to be well, gave us the medication, and left.
Mr. Unit Director, I wanted to email you to let you know that our encounter with Nurse Okwuoma was so appreciated. My husband was at Emory St. Joseph and was discharged on Wednesday. He had me bring his pills because the hospital didn't have them. He needs to take them every day. Nurse Okwuoma called after discharge and said he had left the pills at the hospital. I lamented that we live in the Camp Creek/airport area and how far it was back to the hospital, but I would come. She looked up the address and said well you live not far from me, I will bring them to you on my way home. Instead of meeting her, she told me she was about four minutes from our house. I told her I would turn on the porch light on. Sure enough, a few minutes later, a car pulled up, and it was her. She got out of her car, gave my husband a hug, told him to be well, gave us the medication, and left. My husband and I said there must be something more we can do. This morning I called her and told her I wanted to write to her supervisor, if that was ok, to let that person know how very grateful we were for her "above and beyond" action. My husband is 86 years old, and we are in a battle with cancer. So please accept this letter as our extreme gratitude for a person who went well beyond her job just to do something nice for someone else. We, the someone else’s, are most grateful and wanted you to know what an amazing person and employee you have.
