Oliver Macale was honored with the DAISY Award for exemplifying the MedStar Spirit values which are Service, Patient First, Integrity, Respect, Innovation and Teamwork.
Oliver, with his many years of cardiac care experience, was asked by a nursing colleague to assist during a rapid response on one of the medical surgical units. The ICU RN assigned to the rapid response was busy with a code blue and unavailable to provide support. Oliver assisted in stabilizing the patient and administered necessary medications. He stayed with the patient during an emergency CT scan and later transported the patient to the Intensive Care Unit.
